Making Reservations

To make a reservation for an educational field trip, workshop or class call The Museum of Tranportation Education Department at 314-965-6885 (Ext. 5) Monday through Friday. Please note that leaving a message is not a reservation.

Please have the following information ready when you call:

  • School address, phone number and contact person
  • Full name of teachers who will be visiting the museum
  • List of possible visit dates
  • Special needs of your students
  • Choice of theater performance and/or field trip theme
  • Number of students and adults attending
  • Arrival and departure times

Registration Procedures:

  • Pre-register via telephone by calling 314-965-6885 (Ext. 5).

Making Payments:

  • Make checks and money orders payable to: Transport Museum Association.
  • A confirmation letter and admission will be mailed as soon as the museum has received deposit or payment.
  • Please read the confirmation letter carefully noting your payment due date(s) and verifying your field trip date and time slot.
  • Keep the confirmation letter. It serves as your verification document in the event of any miscommunicaiton.
  • Cancellation must be made at least two weeks prior to the scheduled visit in order to receive a refund (50% of the total payment is refundable) or to reschecule.
  • Groups that arrive without confirmed payment and reservations will not be admitted for a field trip program.
  • Complete payment must be received two weeks prior to your visit date or your reservation will be given away without notification.
  • 50% deposit due within two weeks of phone reservation.

Please Note:

  • The Museum of Transportation may not be able to schedule your first choice date.
  • Rescheduling is difficult so please be aware of testing dates and half days.
  • You must have one adult chaperone for every five children. Without the required supervision your group will not be admitted.
  • There are no fees or charges for the chaperones. This is based on a one adult to five student ratio. Any additional adults will be charged $5.00 per person for their admission fee.
  • Siblings may accompany the class on their tour and Scavenger Hunt, but will NOT be invited to participate in the facilitated classroom lesson. They may explore the museum artifacts or visit Creation Station during this time. Thank you in advance for adhering to this request.
  • If a field trip group is bringing siblings of the students , they must be included in the admission count.
  • Make sure to allow enough travel time and schedule appropriately. Groups arriving late will receive a shortened program.
  • Up to four classes CAN be scheduled for the same time.

Other Important Information:

  • Free exploration of the museum before or after the scheduled time is permitted, during museum working hours.
  • There are limited outdoor picnic areas for snacks or lunch at Function Junction.
  • Parking is permitted by the museum. Buses can unload in front of the museum entrance but must park on the lower parking lot.
