Educational Development at MOT

The primary goal for the development of the educational division of the Museum of Transportation is to inspire the community to access, investigate, enjoy and support the Museum of Transportation and all it has to offer.

Specifically, the education division seeks:

  • to provide enjoyable and content-rich educational experiences for students in PreK (3's & 4's) as well as Kindergarten - Fifth grades.
  • to extend the Museum of Transportation's outreach into area schools.
  • to provide special events geared toward families, home schooled children, preschoolers, scouts and adults.
  • to develop the Museum of Transportation's appeal as a venue for a variety of community activities.
  • to generate funding through outreach and increased community attendance.

The first step in developing a sound educational curriculum for the Museum of Transportation has been to identify the Missouri "Show Me" Standards that are most relevant to the museum. By providing learning experiences based on these standards, the museum takes its rightful place alongside the St. Louis Science Center, the St. Louis Zoo, and other venues as a first-rate location for learning.
