William R. and Laura Rand Orthwein Education & Visitors' Center (pictured above)
At the heart of the grounds will be a new multi-purpose
building. This 27,000 square foot building will introduce guests to our world-class collection of artifacts. Additionally,
this facility will accommodate our library, orientation/service center, gift
shop and café. Construction began on August 12, 2009. |

The Train of Thought - Completed May 2007
A renovated rail car with class! Thid rail car classroom is used daily bringing history
alive for elementray school children and boy/girl scouts.

Miniature Railroad - Opened October 2005
All aboard! With the purchase and installation of two C.P. Huntington Locomotives and three coaches, guest of all ages can enjoy a ride on these historic replicas.

Earl C. Lindburg Automobile Center - Completed November 2005
A complete renovation of the Museum’s automobile gallery
provides appropriate space for the Museum’s extensive collection of vehicles. |
Creation Station Education Center - Opened November 2005
A 2,400 square foot addition to the Earl C. Lindburg Automobile
Center houses this hands-on learning environment dedicated to exposing children
to all modes of transportation while enriching early developmental skills. |
New Entrance, Road and Parking Lot - Completed Fall 2005
The entrance creates better visibility and leads to an
expanded parking lot, which is closely linked to the visitors' center. |
Streetcar Line - Completed Fall 2004
Visitors can ride a vintage streetcar to experience our legacy in motion. Look for the line to expand soon! |
Restroom Facilities/Site Furnishing/Signage - Completed Fall 2004
New restrooms, picnic furniture, and directional signage can accommodate an increased number of
visitors in the area of our major outdoor exhibits. |

Expanded Train Sheds and Exhibit Pavilions - 2010,2011
These are much needed open-air covered areas that will protect
the collection and allow for visitor interaction. |
